Karachi: Car and motorcycle owners in Karachi should stay alert, the launch date of the faceless e-ticketing system is getting closer.
According to details, DIG Traffic Police Peer Muhammad Shah said that traffic violators were fined a total of Rs 978.1 million this year.
He added that since October 1, manual challans (fines) have been stopped. If manual fines had continued, the total amount could have crossed Rs 1.1 billion.
The DIG Traffic further said that no one has been fined since October 1, but from October 27, the faceless e-ticketing system will officially start in Karachi.
According to traffic data, between January and October 1, more than 1.2 million challans were issued, and 3,370 people were arrested for different traffic violations.
DIG Peer Muhammad Shah also shared that action was taken against 3,165 unfit vehicles, while 1,067 people were arrested for illegal parking and encroachments.
Similarly, 399 drivers were arrested under Section 144 for reckless driving, and 1,180 drivers were fined for driving on restricted roads.
He said that the faceless e-ticketing system will begin a new era of citizen convenience, transparency, and digital monitoring in Karachi.
