New York: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan has no intention of recognizing Israel. He added that Israel must end its illegal occupation of Palestinian land immediately, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference in New York, Ishaq Dar said that the OIC is a group of 57 Muslim countries, and Pakistan is a founding member. He said Pakistan helped appoint a permanent envoy for Islamophobia through the OIC. He also raised the issues of both Palestine and Kashmir.
The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan supports the right of Palestinians to self-determination and wants a two-state solution. He added that the borders of a free Palestinian state should be based on the 1967 position, and Al-Quds (Jerusalem) must be its capital.
He clearly said that Pakistan will not recognize Israel until the Palestine issue is resolved.
Talking about international relations, he said his meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State was very useful. They discussed trade and tariffs. He also spoke with Senator Marco Rubio on a call, where both sides had an open conversation about bilateral and regional matters.
Ishaq Dar said that his visit to the United States was successful in every way. He mentioned that Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb would soon visit the U.S. to finalize a tariff agreement, which is expected in the next two or three days.
Speaking about Imran Khan, he said that the PTI founder’s cases are a matter for the courts. “If you pick up weapons, the law will take its own path,” he said. He also stressed that fighting terrorism is Pakistan’s top priority.
About his Afghanistan visit, Ishaq Dar said he went there on April 19 and had talks with Afghan caretaker ministers. He said the decisions made during that visit were implemented by April 20. He added that if a railway line connects Pakistan and Afghanistan, it would link the whole region. Pakistan has asked Afghanistan to ensure that its land is not used for terrorism. He also said that foreign ministers of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan would meet soon in Kabul.
