Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a special high-level committee to help grow the cashless economy and speed up digital systems in the country. The main goal is to make money transfers and payments more modern and easy without using physical cash, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel On Wednesday.
This new committee will be led by Prime Minister Shehbaz himself. It will look at all the steps and progress related to digitization and cashless systems every week to make sure things are moving in the right direction.
While chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said that making the economy digital is one of the most important goals of the government. He gave clear directions to support digital payments and online money transfers through strong policies.
He also said that the government’s 2025-26 budget includes many ideas to support the cashless economy. These include helping people use mobile apps, online banking, and other digital platforms for payments and shopping.
The Prime Minister shared that the government is also trying to reduce the use of cash in informal markets and instead promote digital transactions. He gave an example from the holy month of Ramazan, where digital wallets were used to send aid to people in a fair and clear way.
Using digital wallets helped make sure that people got their rightful help without any delay or middlemen. It made the whole process transparent and easy.
He also said that Pakistan’s inflation rate has gone down and foreign remittances have increased. This shows that the economy is improving. He pointed out that the rise in the stock market shows that investors are confident in the government’s policies. “With Allah’s blessings, the hard work of our economic team is now showing results,” said the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was told that traders are now being guided to accept and use digital payment systems for their business. The meeting also included updates on new plans from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Information Technology.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, FBR Chairman, and other senior government officials.
