Washington (26 September 2025): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office of the White House.
According to details, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was also present in the meeting. The discussion lasted for around one hour and twenty minutes.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said the meeting took place in a friendly and positive atmosphere. US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio also joined the discussion.
Both sides talked about issues of mutual interest and shared their views on regional and international matters. Before the meeting, President Trump praised the leadership style of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Speaking to reporters at a ceremony in his office before the meeting, Donald Trump said he was about to meet “a great leader.” He mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Field Marshal were arriving and called both of them “remarkable personalities.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Andrew Air Base for the meeting with President Trump. He received a red-carpet welcome from senior US Air Force officials. After that, his motorcade left the air base under tight American security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is in New York to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech today. It is worth noting that he also met President Trump yesterday on the sidelines of the Arab Islamic Summit.
