Political Stir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Big News After Ali Amin Gandapur’s Resignation

After the resignation of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, political activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suddenly increased. The opposition parties have become active and have hinted that they will soon announce their own candidate for the Chief Minister’s post.

According to reports, after the CM’s resignation, political discussions have gained speed across the province. Leader of the Opposition Dr. Ibadullah Khan has called a joint meeting of all opposition parties in Peshawar, which will be held today.

Dr. Ibadullah said that the opposition has the support of 53 members, and they plan to nominate their own candidate for the Chief Minister’s position. He added that PTI members in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are now considered independent candidates, and Sohail Afridi has been nominated — even though he has never served as a councillor before.

Dr. Ibadullah further said that the opposition is working together as a united front. “We are having a meeting tomorrow,” he explained. “Some members from the government benches have already contacted us. This is a joint opposition meeting where we will take a collective decision.”

Meanwhile, sources in the provincial assembly said that the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly can call the postponed session, which was earlier delayed until October 20, at any time. If the session is called today, the nomination papers for the Chief Minister’s election can be submitted until 3 PM on October 9, and the scrutiny process will be completed by 5 PM the same day. The election for the new Chief Minister will then take place the next day.

Yesterday, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur officially announced his resignation from the position, which he also shared on social media.

In his message, he said that it was an honour to follow the instructions of the PTI founder, and he was stepping down as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated that during his tenure, he helped bring financial stability to the province and faced the challenges of terrorism with courage.

The former Chief Minister added that in just one year, several development projects were launched. He thanked his cabinet members, assembly colleagues, and the bureaucracy for their support. In the end, he wrote: “I served the people honestly. Pakistan Zindabad, PTI Paindabad.”
