President Says PPP Intends to Continue Cooperation with PML-N

Vehari (February 17, 2026): President Asif Ali Zardari has said that his party plans to continue working together with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Speaking to the media in Vehari, President Zardari said that they supported Maryam Nawaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif through their votes, and they also received political backing in return. He emphasized that their intention is to move forward alongside PML-N.

The president explained that politics requires flexibility and cooperation. According to him, strong governance depends on political maturity and the ability to work together. He added that the alliance has already been formed and will continue, but clarified that Punjab is currently governed by PML-N, while his party’s government is limited to Sindh and Balochistan for now.

Zardari praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts to stabilize the country. He mentioned that some analysts question the need to strengthen Parliament, but he understands how important a strong Parliament is for the country’s future.

Sharing personal experiences, the president said that prison is something a person must face with dignity. He revealed that he suffered a heart attack soon after being released from jail. He also recalled an emotional moment when he met his children after a long time and saw that they had grown up—Bilawal was even taller than him.

Zardari further claimed that during the past four years, the country was not truly run by former Prime Minister Imran Khan but by General Faiz Hameed. He said the leadership at the time did not understand how to provide relief to the public, and as a result, the country experienced stagnation.

Talking about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the president said that PTI has been in power there for a long time but little development has taken place. He criticized the focus on protests, adding that violence continues, roads remain blocked, and the situation has created difficulties for citizens.

President Zardari also stated that political cooperation helps prevent extremist trends. He said he understands the concerns of people across the country and is aware of what the people of Balochistan are hoping for.
