PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has made it clear that the PTI founder has nominated Mehmood Khan Achakzai as the Opposition Leader, and this decision cannot be changed.
Earlier, reports suggested that Achakzai might be removed from the leadership of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain alliance, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman could be made the new head. But now Barrister Gohar has responded to all these rumours.
Gohar said the PTI founder personally selected Mehmood Achakzai for the Opposition Leader’s position, and all major decisions in PTI are made by the founder himself. He added that there is no option to review or reverse this nomination.
The PTI Chairman also denied claims about any ongoing meetings, saying that there are no talks or negotiations happening with anyone else.
It’s important to note that earlier there were reports that after Achakzai’s nomination as Opposition Leader, political parties were considering removing him from the leadership of the constitutional alliance.
Sources had claimed that PTI and other parties were discussing the leadership of the opposition alliance, and there was a proposal to appoint Maulana Fazlur Rehman as its new head.
According to those reports, PTI and other opposition parties were also discussing bringing JUI-F into the alliance. It was said that negotiations with Fazlur Rehman were underway, and around 60% of matters had already been settled.
However, some PTI leaders opposed the idea of giving Maulana Fazlur Rehman the leadership of the opposition alliance. Sources also said that if all parties reached an agreement, the new alliance could be named the “Grand Opposition Alliance.”
