Punjab Ministers’ Fuel Supply Suspended, Government Officers Face 50% Fuel Cut

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced strict measures to deal with the ongoing petroleum crisis. She has ordered that the official fuel supply for provincial ministers be completely stopped until the fuel situation improves.

According to reports, the Chief Minister has taken these steps to manage the economic challenges caused by the current crisis. As part of the new policy, government officers will also face a 50 percent reduction in their petrol and diesel allowances for official vehicles.

The government has also banned protocol vehicles that usually travel with provincial ministers and senior officials. The Chief Minister said that only one vehicle will be allowed for security purposes with ministers and top officials.

In addition, the Punjab government has decided to introduce work-from-home arrangements in government offices. Only essential staff members will be required to come to offices, while others will continue their work remotely.

To ensure that public services remain available, online services such as e-business platforms and the “Maryam Ki Dastak” program will continue operating for citizens.

The government has also decided that official matters will now be handled through online meetings and teleconferences. All outdoor government events have been banned for the time being, and the Horse and Cattle Show cultural festival has also been postponed.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister has ordered the formation of District Petroleum Monitoring Committees to keep a close watch on petroleum products. The Punjab Information Board (PIB) has also been tasked with developing a track-and-trace system to monitor fuel supply and distribution.

These measures aim to reduce fuel consumption and manage the ongoing petroleum shortage across the province.
