Karachi: Former Pakistan star fast bowler Mohammad Amir has said that the removal of Mickey Arthur and Sarfaraz Ahmed from their positions marked the beginning of a difficult period for Pakistan cricket.
Speaking on a private TV channel program, Amir said that when both Mickey Arthur and Sarfaraz Ahmed were removed from their roles, he had predicted at that time that it would start a “dark era” for Pakistan cricket. According to him, the team has been struggling since then, and the decline is still continuing.
Amir also shared his opinion about Babar Azam’s captaincy. He said that once Babar Azam was made captain, removing him after 2023 and then not restoring him immediately was a major mistake. He called it one of the biggest blunders in recent cricket decisions.
He further explained that such changes created problems among players as well. When competition is created in a negative way between teammates, it can damage team unity. He said that no matter how weak the system may be, the team should always remain united.
The former fast bowler added that once internal politics begins inside a team, it directly affects performance on the field. According to him, when management starts playing politics within the squad, the team eventually suffers in international cricket.
