In Saudi Arabia, the General Directorate of Immigration and Passports, known as Jawazat, has announced that over 8,000 decisions have been made last month against people who broke Iqama and labor laws, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel On Friday.
According to the Saudi news agency, Jawazat said that its special committees in different regions recorded violations of Iqama, labor, and border laws by both Saudi citizens and foreigners. These cases were then sent to the concerned departments, where legal actions were taken based on the type of violations.
The spokesperson for Jawazat mentioned that different punishments were given, including jail time, fines, and even deportation from the country.
Jawazat has also advised all Saudi citizens and foreigners living in the Kingdom to strictly follow Iqama, labor, and border rules so they don’t face any legal problems in the future.
It’s important to know that to live legally in Saudi Arabia, one must have a valid Iqama. Without it, you cannot stay in the country. Iqama renewal is also necessary before it expires.
As per a 2023 survey, there are more than 10 million foreigners living in Saudi Arabia. A report from Saudi Gazette last year shared that people from India, Pakistan, Egypt, Yemen, and Bangladesh form a large part of this number.
There are about 3 million Indians, 2.5 million Pakistanis, 2.2 million Egyptians, 1.4 million Yemenis, and 1.2 million Bangladeshi nationals currently living and working in Saudi Arabia.
