Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Sheikh has passed away. His funeral prayer will be offered today after Asr prayer.
According to foreign media, on the instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, absentee funeral prayers for the Grand Mufti will also be offered at Masjid-e-Nabawi (ﷺ) and in all mosques across the Kingdom.
Reports say the Saudi Royal Court announced the death of Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Sheikh.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and other leaders expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the death of Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh is a moment of grief for the entire Muslim Ummah. He was a great religious scholar who spent his life spreading the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah and guiding the Muslim community.
The Prime Minister said the late scholar’s efforts for Muslim unity and his deep knowledge will always be remembered. The people and government of Pakistan share the grief of the Saudi leadership and its people.
The Prime Minister also said the religious and scholarly services of the late scholar are a shining chapter for the Muslim Ummah. Future generations will continue to benefit from his knowledge and legacy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi leadership.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also expressed sadness over the death of Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh, saying his services are a guiding light for the Muslim Ummah.
