RAWALPINDI: Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carried out two major intelligence-based operations against the militant group known as “Khawarij,” killing 15 members of the group.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR, the operations were conducted on November 15 and 16 in Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan. The statement said that all the killed militants were linked to the Indian-backed proxy network called Fitna-ul-Khawarij.
The ISPR reported that the first operation took place in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan. Acting on confirmed intelligence, security forces raided a militant hideout. During the exchange of fire, ten militants, including their leader Alam Mehsud, were killed.
In a second intelligence-based operation in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan, security forces successfully eliminated five more militants.
The spokesperson said that clearance operations are still underway to remove any remaining foreign-sponsored militants from the region. Security forces and law enforcement agencies are continuing the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istihkam,” aiming to rid the country of terrorism backed by external enemies.
