A strong earthquake was felt in Islamabad and several cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, creating fear among people.
According to reports, powerful tremors were experienced in the federal capital and nearby areas. The earthquake lasted for around 15 to 20 seconds, which caused panic. Many people quickly left their homes and buildings while reciting prayers.
The earthquake monitoring center said the magnitude was recorded at 5.7 on the Richter scale. The depth of the quake was about 170 kilometers, and its center was located near the border region of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
Tremors were felt in multiple areas including Islamabad and nearby regions, as well as Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Malakand, and Hazara division. The earthquake was also felt in Sahiwal and nearby areas.
Because the shaking lasted several seconds, people in tall buildings rushed outside to open spaces for safety. However, according to early reports, there were no major injuries or damage reported.
