Islamabad (October 27, 2025): Police have completed the inquiry report on the death of SP Adeel Akbar.
According to sources, the investigation into the alleged suicide of SP Adeel Akbar has been completed by three DIGs and the Additional IG Legal. The inquiry team recorded statements from Adeel Akbar’s operator, driver, and the doctors involved in the case.
Sources said the report could be released today or tomorrow. The committee investigated all possible angles — suicide, accidental death, and murder. It was revealed that SP Adeel had been suffering from depression since 2023. His operator mentioned that when the SP took the gun, he removed the magazine and checked whether a bullet was inside or not.
It was also reported that IG Balochistan Abdul Khaliq had prepared a negative ACR (Annual Confidential Report) for Adeel, while another officer prepared a special report against him and sent it directly to the Establishment Division instead of the department.
Sources added that the statements of the operator and driver were recorded separately, and there were no differences in their statements. The doctors who treated Adeel Akbar were also questioned, and the medicines he used were checked.
According to the findings, just before the incident, SP Adeel was on his way to the Establishment Division. His last phone call was from Assistant Commissioner Saddar Yasir. During that call, they discussed an incident that took place near the Sabzi Mandi area. Shortly after the call, SP Adeel took the gun from his operator and shot himself.
It should be remembered that on October 23, 2025, SP Industrial Area Adeel Akbar shot himself near Serena Hotel. Sources said that while on duty, he made a phone call, ended it, and then asked his on-duty officer for a pistol. Within moments, he shot himself with that pistol.
