SUPARCO Predicts Muharram Moon to Be Sighted on June 25

SUPARCO has predicted that the moon for Muharram will likely be sighted in Pakistan on June 25. According to the spokesperson, the new Islamic year is expected to begin from June 27, 2025, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel On Tuesday.

SUPARCO stated that the Muharram moon is likely to be seen on Thursday, June 26. As per the officials, the moon is expected to be born on June 25 at 3:32 PM (Pakistan Standard Time). By the time the sun sets on June 26, the age of the moon will be around 28 hours and 15 minutes.

The SUPARCO spokesperson added that based on astronomical calculations, if the weather stays clear on the evening of June 26, the moon for Muharram will most likely be visible. This means that 1st Muharram 1447 Hijri will likely fall on June 27, 2025.

Reports further suggest that Youm-e-Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram) may be observed on Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, depending on the final moon sighting.

It’s also important to note that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a special meeting for moon sighting on June 25 in Quetta, under the leadership of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. At the same time, Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meetings will take place in Lahore and other cities.
