Suzuki Alto, Cultus, Swift Prices Increased in Pakistan After New Green Tax

Car prices in Pakistan are expected to go up after the government introduced a new Green Tax in the 2025-26 budget. This new tax will apply to most petrol, diesel, and hybrid cars. A 1% tax will now be added to the ex-factory price of these vehicles, which means buying a car is going to be more expensive, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel On Saturday.

The Green Tax is part of the government’s plan to promote eco-friendly transport. However, this tax does not apply to electric cars or plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) that can drive at least 50 kilometers on electric power alone. Regular hybrid cars that cannot meet this condition will have to pay the tax.

Let’s take a look at how this tax affects the prices of Suzuki cars.

Suzuki Alto Prices in Pakistan:

The Suzuki Alto is one of the most popular small cars in the country. After the Green Tax, prices have increased as follows:

ModelOld PriceGreen TaxNew Price
Alto VXR Upgraded2,827,00028,2702,855,270
Alto VXR AGS Upgraded2,989,00029,8903,018,890
Alto VXL AGS Upgraded3,140,00031,4003,171,400

Suzuki Cultus Prices in Pakistan:

The Suzuki Cultus now has higher prices too:

ModelOld PriceGreen TaxNew Price
Cultus VXR4,230,00042,3004,272,300
Cultus VXL4,316,00043,1604,359,160

These new prices show that both Cultus VXR and VXL models have seen a jump of over Rs. 40,000 due to the new tax.

Suzuki Swift Prices in Pakistan:

Even more expensive is the Suzuki Swift, which has the following revised prices:

ModelOld PriceGreen TaxNew Price
Swift GL Manual4,416,00044,1604,460,160
Swift GL CVT4,560,00045,6004,605,600
Swift GLX CVT4,719,00047,1904,766,190

So now, even small cars like Alto and Cultus are getting more expensive. The Swift models have seen a big rise, with the top variant now close to Rs. 4.77 million.

It’s important to note that fully electric vehicles and some plug-in hybrids will not be affected by this tax only if they can run at least 50 km on electric mode. But regular hybrid cars like Toyota Corolla Cross, Haval H6 HEV, Jolion Hybrid, Kia Sportage Hybrid, and Hyundai Elantra Hybrid will have to pay this Green Tax because their electric-only range is not enough.
