T20 World Cup Super 8: England Defeats Pakistan by 2 Wickets

In an exciting Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup, England defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets.

The match was played in Pallekele, where England successfully chased the target of 165 runs set by Pakistan. They reached the total in 19.1 overs after losing 8 wickets.

England captain Harry Brook played a brilliant match-winning innings. He scored 100 runs off just 50 balls, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes. His performance played a key role in his team’s victory.

Sam Curran scored 16 runs before getting out. Opener Phil Salt returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs. Jos Buttler managed only 2 runs before being dismissed by Shaheen Afridi. Jacob Bethell scored 8 runs, while Tom Banton added just 2 runs.

Will Jacks made 28 runs but lost his wicket to Mohammad Nawaz.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi bowled very well. He took 4 wickets in his 4 overs while giving away 30 runs. Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Tariq also picked up two wickets each.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan batted first and scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. They set a target of 165 runs for England.

Sahibzada Farhan was the top scorer for Pakistan. He played a stylish innings of 63 runs from 45 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam both scored 25 runs each. Shadab Khan made a quick 23 runs off 11 balls.

Usman Khan scored 8 runs, Saim Ayub added 7 runs, and captain Salman Ali Agha managed only 5 runs. Shaheen Afridi scored 2 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz could not score.

For England, Liam Dawson took 3 wickets by giving 24 runs. Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer took two wickets each.

Before the match, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and chose to bat first. He said that Shaheen Afridi replaced Faheem Ashraf in the playing XI and added that the pitch looked good for batting. He also said the team would try to set a strong target and defend it.

England captain Harry Brook said that if they had won the toss, they would also have chosen to bat first. He mentioned that a win in this match would confirm their place in the semi-finals.
