Islamabad (July 25, 2025): The federal government has taken an important step to deal with climate challenges by promoting electric bikes and motorcycles in the country, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Friday.
The Electric Bike Scheme 2025 is expected to be a game-changer for Pakistan’s transportation system. Here are some early details about the scheme.
Launch Date
The official launch of the Electric Bike Scheme is expected on August 14, during Independence Day celebrations, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will make the announcement.
This move shows the government’s strong commitment to a sustainable future and reducing dependence on fuel-based transport.
Subsidy and Budget Allocation
Under this scheme, the government has allocated 9 billion rupees in the current budget to support electric bikes. Each electric bike will get a 65,000 rupee subsidy, making it affordable for common people.
After the subsidy, the remaining amount can be paid through interest-free bank loans, which will reduce the financial burden on citizens.
Installments and Registration Process
The registration for the Electric Bike Scheme will be done online to make the process easy and transparent for everyone.
If the number of applicants is more than the available quota, a balloting system will decide who gets the bikes.
The government’s target is to have at least 2 million electric bikes on the roads by 2030. In addition, the goals include 53,950 electric rickshaws, 99,155 cars, 2,238 buses, and 2,996 trucks.
