An Iranian commercial ship came under attack by the US Navy, leaving several crew members injured and missing.
According to Al Jazeera, the incident happened late at night when a US naval force targeted an Iranian-flagged trade vessel. Iranian media reported that 10 crew members were injured, while 5 others are still missing after the attack.
The attack reportedly took place near the Strait of Hormuz and the Makran Sea area close to Oman.
Reports said the Iranian ship later collided with a cargo vessel, which caused a fire to break out onboard. Injured crew members were shifted to hospitals, while rescue teams continue search operations for the missing workers.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump spoke to the media and said that despite a “small clash” with Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, the ceasefire is still active for now.
However, he warned Tehran that if an agreement is not signed soon, Iran could face a very strong response and serious consequences.
Trump also claimed that the US Navy successfully stopped missile and drone attacks launched by Iran. He revealed that three American naval ships had safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz and joined the US fleet.
According to Trump, Iran tried to target US forces using missiles, drones, and small boats, but American defense systems destroyed all incoming missiles in the air. He also claimed that several Iranian boats were destroyed during the counterattack.
The US President said no American ship was damaged during the confrontation. He described Iran’s actions as a “minor joke” and added that if the ceasefire had not existed, the world would have witnessed a massive explosion coming from Iran.
