Islamabad (18 November 2025): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a clear warning to all citizens who are using mobile phones that are not officially registered.
In Pakistan, unregistered phones are often cheaper because no customs duty or tax is paid on them. For people with low income, these phones become an attractive option.
However, PTA has stated that any unregistered device can be blocked at any time. Under the DIRBS system, only approved and registered mobile phones are allowed to work on the network.
PTA advised users to dial *#06# to get their 15-digit IMEI number. After that, they can check their device status either on the PTA website or by sending an SMS to 8484.
The authority has urged people to register their phones before they get blocked. PTA also reminded citizens to enjoy safe and uninterrupted connectivity by using only officially approved devices, as responsible digital users.
