Jeddah: Saudi Arabia’s Meteorology Department has issued a weather high alert for nine regions of the country, warning that weather conditions remain uncertain.
According to the Saudi news agency, the department said that some areas may experience heavy rainfall, while others could see light to moderate rain. In certain regions, there is also a possibility of snowfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, and reduced visibility.
Reports stated that the weather alerts will remain active from early Wednesday morning (Fajr time) until the evening. Authorities have advised continuous monitoring of the situation and urged people to take precautionary measures.
Due to the unstable weather conditions, schools have been closed today in several cities of the Eastern Region where rainfall is expected. These cities include Hafar Al-Batin, Khafji, Nairiyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya, Al-Ahsa, Buqayq, Jubail, Khobar, Dammam, Qatif, and Ras Tanura.
According to reports, the weather conditions are expected to continue from 12:00 noon until 11:00 PM, during which strong winds and thunderstorms may affect visibility.
A weather alert has also been issued for Asir region cities, including Abha, Ahad Rafidah, Khamis Mushait, Al-Harjah, Al-Farshah, Sarat Abidah, and Dhahran Al-Janoub. In these areas, light rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are expected from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Reports further said that residents of Rabigh city in the Makkah region have also been placed under alert, with light rain expected in two phases.
The first phase is expected from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while the second phase may occur from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, along with strong winds and thunderstorms.
