The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning regarding mobile SIM cards that have remained inactive for six months.
According to the PTA, mobile network operators are allowed to block SIMs that have not been used for the past six months. Any SIM card that has not been used for calls, messages, or internet services for 180 days will be deactivated.
PTA officials said that once an inactive SIM is blocked, the same number may be reissued to another user.
In a message shared on social media, the PTA clarified that after a SIM number is given to a new user, the previous owner will have no legal claim over it. Users have been advised to use their SIM cards responsibly and regularly to avoid deactivation.
