Karachi (February 26, 2026): The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that all commercial banks will remain open on Saturday, February 28, 2026, to facilitate taxpayers.
According to an official statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, this decision was made to help people easily pay their government taxes and duties over the counter. All commercial bank branches across the country have been directed to stay open from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on that day.
The statement further explained that this step was taken on the request of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The State Bank also instructed banks, including the National Bank of Pakistan branches that collect customs duties, to remain open as long as needed to complete special clearing of government transactions through NIFT.
In addition, banks have been told to ensure that all digital payment services remain fully active. This includes internet banking, mobile banking apps, ATMs, and other online platforms so that taxpayers can pay their government duties and taxes without any interruption.
This move aims to provide maximum convenience to citizens and ensure smooth collection of taxes before the deadline.
